In a surprising turn of events, the audio launch of Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated film Leo is off the calendar. Enthusiasts and fans were eagerly waiting for this grand celebration which was to be held at Chennai’s Nehru indoor stadium on September 30. Everyone from the cast, including Vijay and the director Lokesh Kanagaraj, were supposed to be there. Sadly, that’s not going to happen now.
The production house, Seven Screen Studio, announced the cancellation on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. Clearing the air around the speculated ‘political pressure’, they mentioned safety concerns due to the large number of pass requests. They assured fans of regular updates about the movie and hinted at more surprises to come. As you can imagine, fans had a lot to say. Many expressed their disappointment while others stood by the team, hinting at possible political motives behind the decision.
Now, a bit more about Leo. This film is all set to be a massive one, marking Vijay’s second venture with Lokesh Kanagaraj after their hit, Master. Leo belongs to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, and it’s brimming with talent. Apart from Vijay, the movie features Trisha Krishnan as the lead lady and Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist. The cast list goes on with names like Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Anurag Kashyap. The music, which is eagerly awaited, is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
But it’s not just the audio launch that experienced a delay. Earlier this month, the film’s poster release was postponed by a day. The reason? A tragic event. Vijay Antony’s daughter, a 16-year-old, was found dead at their Chennai residence. Out of respect, Seven Screen Studio decided to unveil the poster on September 20. The entire film fraternity and fans have been expressing their condolences to Vijay Antony and his family.
For the unversed, Vijay Antony has been a known face in the Tamil music and film industry. He’s given us films like Naan, Salim, and Pichaikkaran. An accident on the sets of Pichaikkaran 2 in Malaysia left him with a jaw and nose injury earlier this year.
