The 2019 film “Dream Girl” saw Nushrratt Bharuccha sharing the screen with Ayushmann Khurrana, captivating audiences with their on-screen chemistry. The film, set in a quaint Indian town, humorously highlighted Ayushmann’s character’s unique ability to mimic a woman’s voice, leading him to work at a call center during the night. Nushrratt played Ayushmann’s love interest, adding charm to the narrative.
Fast forward to today, and the makers are gearing up for the sequel. While Ayushmann remains the male protagonist, the leading lady’s role has been handed to Ananya Panday, sidelining Nushrratt. This decision has left the actress feeling hurt and overlooked.
In a candid conversation, Nushrratt shared, “Being part of ‘Dream Girl’ was an incredible experience, and I cherish my time with the team. The reason behind my exclusion from the sequel is something only the makers can explain. Naturally, it’s disappointing and feels unjust. However, I respect their decision.”
In an interesting twist of fate, Nushrratt’s forthcoming film “Akelli” is set to hit theaters on the same day as “Dream Girl 2”. Commenting on this, she mentioned, “Originally, ‘Akelli’ was scheduled for an August 18 release. Due to unforeseen censor board issues, we had to postpone it, even though we wished otherwise.”
“Dream Girl 2”, directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, promises another round of laughter. The film features a stellar cast, including Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Manjot Singh, and more.
