Kriti Sanon, the shining star of Bollywood, has added another feather to her cap by clinching the prestigious Best Actress National Award for her exceptional portrayal in the movie, “Mimi.” She shares this distinguished honor with Alia Bhatt, who won for her role in “Gangubai Kathiawadi.”
Kriti recently sat down with Hindustan Times to reminisce about the whirlwind of emotions she experienced when she learned of her victory. She described her initial reaction as one of shock and disbelief. “I froze for the first few seconds,” she recounted. The joy soon took over, and she found herself rushing to embrace her father in a heartwarming hug. The jubilation spread across the family as her mother, dancing with glee, joined the celebration, and her sister, Nupur, added to the elation.
The profound significance of this accolade isn’t lost on Kriti. She says, “Every time I mention the National Award, I get goosebumps.” The actress, who comes from a non-filmi background, emphasized how monumental it was for her even to be a part of the cinematic universe. “An opportunity like Mimi is a once-in-a-lifetime chance,” she stated, adding that while every actor dreams of such recognition, few are fortunate to realize it.
Interestingly, Kriti divulged a personal anecdote – she had penned down in her 2020 diary a dream of winning a National Award someday. Little did she know, destiny had plans to make this aspiration a reality much sooner than she anticipated. While Kriti remains modest about the future implications of this award on her career, she firmly believes she’s yet to unleash her full potential and aspires to evolve with every new day.
On the professional front, the horizon looks promising for Kriti. She has an array of exciting projects lined up, including “The Crew” alongside the stellar Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan and an undisclosed film with Shahid Kapoor. She’s also venturing into production with “Do Patti,” where she’ll share screen space with the evergreen Kajol.
