In a thrilling revelation for fans of Indian cinema, Kamal Haasan and director Shankar are all set to reunite for not just one, but two sensational sequels to the iconic 1996 blockbuster ‘Indian.’ The original film, a massive hit across the nation, saw Kamal Haasan in dual roles – a wise old freedom fighter turned vigilante Senapathy on a mission to eradicate corruption and his corrupt son Chandru. With music by the maestro A.R. Rahman and a stellar ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Suganya, Goundamani, and Senthil, ‘Indian’ left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
Fast forward more than two decades, and the long-awaited sequel, ‘Indian 2,’ is finally in the works. However, it appears that this cinematic journey is expanding beyond expectations. According to reliable sources, director Shankar, during the editing process, realized that there was enough material to warrant a third installment in the ‘Indian’ series.
Hence, ‘Indian 3’ is now a reality, and the excitement knows no bounds. While ‘Indian 2’ requires around thirty more days of shooting, ‘Indian 3’ is already in the bag. Trade circles are buzzing with the news that Kamal Haasan, the stalwart actor, and politician, has graciously given his call sheet for the required days. In return, Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies have agreed to honor his current remuneration of a staggering Rs. 120 Crores. This is a significant leap from the Rs. 30 Crores he accepted for the sequel’s filming four years ago.
While this news is bound to thrill fans, it does come with a twist. Kamal Haasan’s previously planned projects, including ‘KH 233’ directed by H. Vinoth and ‘KH 234’ directed by the acclaimed Mani Ratnam, will now face further postponement. In addition to his cinematic commitments, Kamal is also hosting ‘Bigg Boss Tamil 7’ and portraying the chief antagonist in ‘Kalki 2898,’ a star-studded venture featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan.
As the ‘Indian’ saga continues to unfold, audiences can expect double the action, intrigue, and entertainment. Kamal Haasan and Shankar are all set to leave their mark once again, proving that some stories only get better with time.
