Tamil cinema’s revered director, Bala, known for blockbuster films like Sethu, Nandha, Pithamagan, Naan Kadvaul, and Avan Ivan, recently raised eyebrows with a shocking revelation. The director, who also wears the producer hat with his B Studio, recently lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner.
In his plea, Bala shed light on a fraudulent Instagram account operating under the guise of “Director Bala.” He expressed concern, stating, “I’m not on Instagram. It’s alarming how a certain individual, Balasubramanian Palanichamy, is parading as me and sharing pictures and updates fraudulently.” What’s more concerning is the perpetrator’s audacity in approaching women with a keen interest in acting. He would personally send messages, falsely promising film opportunities and even requesting inappropriate pictures.
Bala emphasized the need to disable this sham account swiftly and deal sternly with the person behind it. He cautioned movie enthusiasts, especially those looking to act in his films, to be vigilant. In Bala’s filmmaking realm, typically only assistant directors and managers play a part in casting actors.
On a brighter note, Bala is in the last leg of his upcoming movie, Vanangaan, starring the talented Arun Vijay and Roshni Prakash. The film, enriched with G.V. Prakash Kumar’s music, Balasumbramanian’s cinematography, and Sathish Surya’s editing skills, is gearing up for a grand December 2023 release.
