It was the collaboration that every fan of Malayalam and Tamil cinema was waiting for – the alliance of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal with Tamil cinema’s beloved “Thala” Ajith Kumar. The grapevine was abuzz with whispers that Mohanlal would feature in the Ajith-starrer Thunivu. The duo’s fans were on cloud nine when Ajith surprised everyone with a visit to Mohanlal’s set for Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. The anticipation was palpable.
However, the release of Thunivu earlier this year squashed these rumours, leaving fans crestfallen, as Mohanlal was nowhere to be seen.
But destiny has its way of teasing. Recently, fans of both cinematic giants were in for a treat. The duo was spotted together in Dubai, with Ajith reportedly visiting Mohanlal at his plush Burj Khalifa residence. Sameer Hamsa, a close friend of Mohanlal and an entrepreneur, shared this joyous reunion on social media, painting a picture of a delightful evening filled with camaraderie and friendship.

Earlier, there were whispers of Ajith being part of Mohanlal’s directorial debut, Barroz. However, these rumours were laid to rest by the Barroz team.
Mohanlal is juggling several projects at the moment. His eagerly awaited Barroz is slated for a December release, while Malaikottai Vaaliban, his first-ever collaboration with the legendary Lijo Jose Pellissery, is set to grace the big screen in early 2024. He’s also committed to Jeethu Joseph’s Neru and Ram, and Nanda Kishore’s Vrushubha.
Ajith, not one to be left behind, is engrossed in Magizh Thirumeni’s Vidaa Muyarchi post the lukewarm response to his recent film, Thunivu.
In another update, Mohanlal has announced the release date of Malaikottai Vaaliban. The much-anticipated film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 25th January 2024, as confirmed by Mohanlal himself, making LJP’s birthday even more special.
